The
mandate of the Merit Contractors Association of New Brunswick
was implemented to achieve the following initiatives:
- To
affirm our membership to the Construction Industry
and all related firms.
- To
represent Non-Union concerns to Government and Industry
on Open Shop issues.
- To
support the rights of all Merit Employers and Employees
to promote Free Enterprise.
- To
insist on safe and equitable working conditions for
employees while lobbying to ensure access for Open Shop
Employers to all Construction sites in New Brunswick.
- To
provide opportunity and to facilitate the exchange of
information and opinions between Merit Contractors and
their Employees to Government Departments and Agencies,
Owner Groups, Developers and all others who wish to dialogue
with us or to purchase our services.
- To
foster and facilitate high levels of employment for
our members. This will be done through development, sponsorship,
promotion, and the co-ordination of programs and services
that relate to recruitment, performance, remuneration, morale,
and employment security.
- To
better inform the Merit Membership about developments,
trends, and industry problems which arise from time to time
in the New Brunswick Construction Industry.
- To
develop training programs that will result in a balanced
supply of appropriately qualified Trades Persons that can
participate freely and profitably in a competitive marketplace.
- To
support and participate in the Apprenticeship Training
Programs which are available to the Construction Industry
in New Brunswick.
- To
promote and support Sound Legislation in the areas
of Labour Relations, Safety Standards and Safety Training,
Apprenticeship Training, Unemployment Compensation and Workers
Compensation issues.
- To
provide a comprehensive and affordable Benefit Package
for all Merit Employers and their Employees.
- To
insist on overall fair and acceptable working conditions
for all Open Shop Employers and their Employees who make
their living working in the New Brunswick Construction Industry.
